Summary
100 years ago, Lokmanya Tilak sent two woman teachers to Nagpur to help establish an all-girls Marathi medium school. Dadasaheb Ogale, a newspaper publisher, had envisioned a school for the girls balancing both tradition and formal education and the faculty sent by Tilak brought that vision to life. Located 20-odd metres away from Gandhi Gate in Mahal, the Shreemati Dadibai Deshmukh Hindu Mulinchi Shala is now celebrating its centenary year. Named after one of its biggest financial benefactors, the school has stuck to the mission of providing education to local girls and giving them a shot at a better life.
